12 Days of Christmas Decluttering: Day 4 Office desk, paperwork and makeup

I hope you are enjoying the 12 days of decluttering so far! It’s been great to share some different strategies that I use to help keep on top of the clutter and reduce the amount in my home.

Day 4 of Christmas Decluttering: Office desk, paperwork and makeup

Today I would like you to think more strategically about paperwork and our attachment to keeping everything. There are some areas in which you can reduce what you have and not be without them.

Firstly, utility bills can be seen online and downloaded. Set yourself up with a folder on your computer and digitally download the most recent bill and store them on your device for a year or 2 max. After this, you don’t need to keep hold of them.

Secondly, medical documents should be stored, per person, in simple and easy box files. This saves the need for hole punching or buying pockets to store things in. Having simple systems will also make things much easier to find when you need them.

Thirdly, important documents, like passports and birth certificates should be kept together. These should be kept in an easy to reach document file. I have a simple folder that these are kept in that I would be able to grab in a hurry.

Finally, desk drawers should have trays inside to compartmentalise your items, just like you would in a cutely drawer. Additionally, keeping like items together will make it easy to grab what you need and help you to keep a track of how many you have.
