5 Minimalist Gift Ideas

Christmas is fast approaching and I am definitely feeling the pinch this year. However, this year I am hoping that minimalism is going to help me keep to budget as well as give meaningful and purposeful gifts to my friends and family.

Set a budget

Firstly, it is important to set a budget. You need to decide who you are spending on and how much you want to spend on each person. This figure may vary depending on how close you are to the person, but having a figure in mind will help you think more clearly about the presents and prevent those adhoc gifts being added to your shopping basket.

5 minimalist gift ideas

Ask people what they want

Sounds straight forward, but the best way to be purposeful is to ask them what they want or need. Then you know the gift will be valued and used, rather than wasted. If they don’t know, you could try and think about what might help them out with daily life, a gift that will make things easier. We can all think of something that would help our own lives, so channel that inner dialogue.

Experiences

This is a great way to create memories with the person. You could think about spa days, racing car driving, days out or a meal out. All of these will create a memory, which I am sure we can all agree is more valuable than possessions. Let’s have some fun!

Consumables

Not to be underrated at all, consumables are a great gift as you know they will be eaten and enjoyed. It is worth taking a moment to think about the foot and drink items that your friend or family member enjoys so that you know it will be truly appreciated, but a little hamper of goodies will always go down a treat.

Gift vouchers

As tempting as it can be to choose clothing and furniture items for someone, half of the fun is being able to choose these yourself. A gift voucher is a great way to put money towards a specific area, but let them choose items to their own style and preference.

Subscription services

Why not choose a subscription service that they were wanting to trial or experience for a few months? It would be a great way for them to enjoy some new films or series. Another option would be to gift them a food box subscription to give them a week of easy dinners! This is worth its weight in gold!

These 5 minimalist gift ideas will help you to give meaningful presents that everyone will enjoy, without breaking the bank.
