5 Things I Wish I Knew About Being a Minimalist!
Everyone has their opinion on minimalism, but I wish I had been more open minded in the beginning, because in reality it wasn’t quite what I thought it was… It was even better!
5 things I wish I knew:
- Minimalism can be what you want it to be! there is no right or wrong way to be a minimalist. There are some ideals or notions, but mostly it can be adapted to work for you.
- Have a reason why. It is much easier to declutter when you have a reason why you want to do it. Is it to raise funds, reduce stress, or to feel better about your environment? If you have a reason, it is much easier to be able to let go of items.
- Your old decluttering methods won’t work. Your old methods have not worked because you are not minimal. You need to find a new way to declutter to get the best out of the process and to reduce having to do it more than once around the house! Try the magic of tidying up or the home edit to get an idea of a process to try.
- You don’t have to do it all at once. There is no time scale. You can do it as quickly or slowly as you like. Shifting your mindset can take time. Try starting with an easier area and then working on a more trickier section. Bit by bit.
- Minimalism doesn’t mean frugal! It is quality over quantity. you can still have quality items in your home.
You won’t regret getting rid of anything. I have decluttered my home twice and there isn’t a single thing that I regret getting rid of. It was always the right decision. Trust your instincts.
