Little Acts of Decluttering: Part 4

It can be tricky to get started, so here I have some little acts of decluttering (part 4) to help you do manageable tasks each day, as and when suits you. You will get there! Keep going!

Let’s get started on decluttering…

  • expired medicine – these can be taken to your local pharmacy to be disposed of safely. Also consider returning any medication that you are unlikely to use.
  • hats and scarves – get ready for the new season and declutter duplicates and get everything washed.
  • bags and purses – declutter any spare items. You could sell these to earn some extra pennies.
  • cushions and throws – whilst throws might be of great help this winter, do consider how many you have and keep the best, warmest ones.
  • framed pictures – do you have many walls cluttered with framed pictures? Consider creating a feature wall of pictures or reducing the number you have.
  • garden tools/equipment – declutter any items you haven’t used in the last year, particularly over summer.
  • paint – paint can be dangerous to store so dispose of any unused paint or old paint at your local recycling centre.
  • plant pots – donate any unused plant pots to friends or family.
  • Pyjamas – reduce your collection down to one set for summer and one for winter.
  • trousers – do you have any duplicate styles/designs that you could declutter, or any that no longer fit?
  • Tops – reduce the number you have in each category, such as smart, casual, short sleeve, long sleeve, etc.
  • childrens clothes – try and get in the habit of going through children’s clothes at the end of each season (they grow so quickly!).
  • backpacks and school bags – if you buy new backpacks or school bags, get in the habit of decluttering the old one so that you have a one in one out policy with this.
  • hangers – declutter any old, broken hangers or ones that damage your clothes.
  • Jumpers and sweaters – reduce the number of different styles tat you have.

Remember…

For each section, be thorough and fair to yourself. Know that you have the power to create a clutter free home and to do so will take time and effort. However, these little acts of decluttering (part 4) help to break it down into different areas so that the task because manageable.
