Want to develop your minimalist mindset and live a little more intentionally. Then these minimalist challenges are just what you need. Try each one to support a simplified, intentional life.

  1. A no-buy month
  2. Limit makeup
  3. Keep surfaces clear of clutter
  4. Rotating toys
  5. Meal plan
  6. Remove furniture
  7. Switch off devices
  8. One of each โ€“ plate, bowl, mug, cutlery

A no-buy month

If you want to save money as well as develop a minimalist mindset, then a no buy month is the challenge for you. This is a great way to reduce spending and limit what is coming in to your home. Prevent unnecessary items from coming into your home.ย

Limit makeup

Reduce your routine so that it is easy to do and less products to think about. Get rid of products you are not going to use. Makes it easier to keep track of what you have and what you might need as and when as replacements.

Keep surfaces clear of clutter

This can have a huge impact on the look and feel of your home. Not having things cluttering up surfaces can create a calming atmosphere.

Rotating toys

If toys are everywhere, consider removing some from the play area and storing them elsewhere out of sight. You can then rotate the boxes back in and the children will be excited to play with them.

Meal plan

A great way to prevent food waste and to be cost effective with your spending.ย Plan meals for the week by using up what you already have and then shopping with a specific list for the remaining ingredients needed. This will help you to stop those random items jumping into the trolley.

Remove furniture

Itโ€™s time to embrace space. This is a scary one for most of us. There is an urge to fill spaces with furniture pieces. Learning to love the open spaces can be freeing.

Switch off devices

Having time away from devices and the TV can really help you to tune into your wellbeing and get you living more intentionally and in the moment. Engage with others or enjoy the peace and quiet. Watch the leaves fall from the trees, listen to bird song. Embrace the little moments.

One of each โ€“ plate, bowl, mug, cutlery

Dishes are a big area in which we seem to have enough to feed the 5000, even though we rarely have visitors. Try and limit each person in the house to have only one bowl, mug, etc and they are accountable for keeping it clean and ready to use. Get in the habit of cleaning as you go, when you have finished using the items, rather then letting multiple dishes pile up.
